Contact Your Elected Officials
Below, please find more information about issues that are critical to the fight against hunger. We're working to educate our elected officials about these issues as well. You can help by clicking on an alert to learn more and then sending a letter to your legislators today.
Passage of the Farm Bill with its important nutrition title is the primary advocacy issue at this time. The Farm Bill includes funding for the Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps), the Commodity Supplemental Feeding Program (CSFP, known at SHFB as Sunshine Boxes), and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
Some leaders in Washington want to cut funding for SNAP as much as $40 billion; cutting this program is not the way to end hunger. See our list of federal officials that you can contact to let your voice be heard.
