Annual Empty Bowls Event

Please join us for an evening of philanthropy to support Second Harvest Food Bank and our mission to end hunger.  Empty Bowls features a silent auction of beautiful artisan bowls and themed gift baskets, a delicious buffet meal prepared and served by volunteers from Sodexo, and live music performed by The BC Combo.

For more than 20 years, Second Harvest operated out of a warehouse in Allentown.  In September, 2015, the Food Bank moved to a new, larger warehouse in East Allen Township.  The new facility will allow Second Harvest to continue meeting the rising demand for its services and places it in a more centrally accessible location in its six-county service area. We look forward to hosting you in our new home!

Second Harvest hosts an annual Empty Bowls fundraiser in October at the Food Bank warehouse.  The event, which includes an informal meal, a silent auction, and live music, is held to raise funds and awareness for the Food Bank and its mission to end hunger in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Empty Bowls features a buffet dinner of three varieties of chili, chicken pot pie, salad, and an assortment of breads and desserts prepared by volunteer staff of the Sodexo Food Service Group.  Take-home quarts of chili are available for purchase after the meal.  During the meal, guests have the opportunity to place bids in a silent auction of decorative bowls donated by local artists and patrons as well as a number of gift bowls that feature hundreds of dollars in donated goods, services, and gift certificates from area retailers.

All proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.
